Any proper guides on weathering techniques? Docyou clearcoat the hardparts after to make it rainproof?

Are there any proper build guiodes with good picrues that show how to assemble a kit? Been trying to read up a bit, but my neurospicy head defies all common logic. Most written explanations only lead to more unanswered questions.
