Jolly Good Day to you from Florida

Post by achwookie »

Good morning Fellows,

I'm Alan from the Tampa Bay Squad, previously from Manchester, England and the UKG. I've been trooping for just under 3 years, and have several cleared costumes (jedi knight, clone wars jedi, tie pilot, imperial gunner, navy trooper, bridge crew, reserve pilot) this will be my first white armour.
I've been wanting to get a Snowtrooper forever and last week, finally did so. I've been tempted in the past by the RS Props Snowie but I saw the costume below on FB and I couldn't argue with the price.
I bought a complete set up, https://www.facebook.com/groups/8569443 ... ger_banner on FB

To complete the costume I've bought
Painters Pants from Dickies,
Replacement Duster from 20EyesDesign on Etsy
Replacement Canvas Belt from Imperial Design
White E11 Holster from SskaMandoSteelArmor
Canadian Forces Arctic Mukluks from armynavydeals.ca
Canvas webbing and Chicago Screws from Amazon
Chest and helmet fans from Troopacoola (my mate Marc back in the UK)

So, im just waiting on USPS to deliver my little bundles of joy before putting it all together and dieing of heat exhaustion in the floridian winter.
I feel confident that I've covered everything, and can't wait to put it all together.

Hey Alan,

I'm from Miami myself but moved to Virginia!

As for the costume, I don't see anything too concerning but the biggest thing it's lacking is weathering on the armor and the soft parts, so I'd look into doing that but if you need help, don't hesitate to as for it.

The next thing really is the boot straps- they should be tighter in appearance and shouldn't sag over top each other. If you've got the boot liner, I'd personally recommend wearing them if you arent already as t helps to "full out" the rest of the boot, and make it easier to tighten up those straps

Cheers Dude, I removed the liners and had slippers inside!! Typical Brit.
Weathering is the next job, hate to do it - I like being pristine.

Hi Alan and welcome!

I know that feeling ;) But I'm pretty sure while doing the weathering you'll like it and when you finished it, you'll love to be badass :D

Usually most of us feel that way at first but once you get it dirtied up and done well, with the appropriate contrast of the soft parts and armor pieces, you'll find that it makes you feel "complete" and happy. I still have a pic of my armor before weathering and I cringe looking at it like that

Good start on the weathering , I always start slow and build up as needed. Would be good to see it all installed to make a good assessment , but over all is looking nice. Noticed you did some tea or coffee type weathering , the pouches look a bit heavy, but hard to tell without you wearing the rig, you could rinse it a bit and maybe knock it back a smidge. Same with the duster. Just a bit. Again , put it all on, and look at the areas you would think be weathered the most, i.e.: wrists, gloves, boots, and bottom of pants and duster, and work it in from there. Very nice work.. Is that fiberglass armor heavy?

Looking good. Just one thing I'd fix- the strap should fold inwards instead of being externally secured

Your belt is upside down, the flat part is on the bottom.

Believe me I do it too. I ended up writing ‘up’ and an arrow on the inside of mine so I would quit forgetting

Just got my approval - Say Hello to Florida's newest Snowtrooper
I believe I am the only active Snowie in the Tampa Squad - No one else is stupid enough to wear it in this weather.
