Hello from Washington!

Post by UnitMK9242 »

Hello! UnitMK9242 here!
I have recently become able to begin the process of applying, and have begun the long long process of joining the Five-Oh-First.
I cannot wait to bring some wintery goodness to the Evergreen State.

Welcome, I’m also from WA. I’m a member of Cloud City Garrison, which covers SW WA.

Where in WA are you located? Which costume are you looking to build?

I'm located in Thurston County.
I was planning on building the first order snowtrooper. But it doesn't seem like too much of a good idea for a first costume, so I'll probably make either the commander for the original trilogy snowtrooper, or the basic design.

Welcome! I was stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord for 5 years, I loved it there. I love my Snowtrooper, but a first order snowie would be great. Walt's Trooper Factory is one of the FISD trusted makers, and does First Order. Soft Goods, I would highly recommend Teresa Nuthall who runs Geeky Pink's Phantastic Gaskets.
I mention this just because if you really want to do a costume, as long as you have the funds, the patience to learn and willingness to research then there's no reason not to try for the costume you really want to do.

Walt did a FO snowie backpack run last year, but I don’t think he has the entire armor kit done yet.

Huh...well, in that case if you're still interested in a First Order Snowie, you can hit up Diversity Props or Jimmiroquai (Jim Tripon on Facebook). Around here, maybe look up Jon Watson, Nate Hunt or Kevin Snow to help you get started, too.

Hi Kayden, and welcome to BF! I also happen to have built a First Order Snowtrooper so I know the particular challenges of this kit. If there's any questions I can answer for you fire away; here, via PM or on FB....its all good. I actually enjoy passing along the help that others gave me during my build. Whatever you choose to make: 1) take your time, 2) ask lots of questions,3) know that there are times when it's ok to step away for a bit, and above all, 4) enjoy the build!
