Greetings from another frenchie

This is where you need to make a post telling who you are and what your 501st Legion ID number is (if you have one). You are not required to be a Legion member to participate on this forum but you must be at least 18 years of age.

Greetings from another frenchie

Hello everybody!

I have registered one year ago, but...I completely to introduce myself. So, now, i do it.
My name is Jerome, 22 years old now, fan of Star Wars, role-player on TOR, fervent adept of the Dark Side (Someone says Cookies ?). Not already member of the 501st, but I hope soon. I have a Darth Nihilus in project (Actually, i have the fabric, but i can't sew, i am not at my home). But if i have registered on this Forum, it's because i have another costume in mind. And this costume is a GM armor (thanks Battlefront II and your horrible mistake).

I have already an idea about how i will proceed: i will do it with papercraft. I already downloaded the different PDO files.

Hi Jerome
Sounds like a great project! How does papercraft work?
Best of luck with your armour.

Hi and thanks.

@ Rachel: Papercraft, or pepakura consists on:
- print all your "patterns" on a very dense paper (more than 180 g/cm², around 220 g/cm² sounds good).
- fold it and glue it following the instructions on the paper.
- put inside and outside a first layer of resin (epoxy or polyester)
- let dry
- put inside a second layer of resin + fiberglass (i have been advised to take woven fiberglass)
- let dry
- sand the outside to have all the round parts as round as possible
- put a first layer of putty outside (i have to check which one between polyester or epoxy is the best)
- sand
- put a second layer of putty (i am not sure about that, if someone can confirm, would be great!)
- Sand
- primer
- paint
- Weathering
- wear it and enjoy!

That sounds amazing! I was wondering how you'd make armour out of paper and seal it without disintegrating! Hope you'll do a build thread so we can follow your progress! Good luck!
