Hi Walter (or Edward?) and welcome to the cold side!

Have you already decided which costume you want?

Its Walter. Edward is a nickname I use a lot.
I would like the standard Snowtrooper.
Problem is that I have little experience with costuming, and lack of available funds. (still in college)

Okay, Walter ;)

To build a snowtrooper is a very good idea. With a kit it's easy, even I did it :)

Sometimes the funds can become a problem, but it's possible to buy the costume parts in several batches (armor kit, duster, pouches, boots...). The most expensive items will be the hard armor parts.

I read your snowtrooper build. It helped make the whole thing look doable.
I looked at prices on a few websites. Like you said, probably have to do this in batches.
Two things I have to ask is
1) how difficult is putting together snow trooper armor compared to storm trooper armor?
2) what holster do you use for the blaster?

That's my pleasure if my thread is a help :)

1) Building a snowtrooper is much easier than a stormtrooper. Most difficult were partially the paint jobs of the symbols on the backpack.
2) snowtrooper don't use holsters ;)

I see
that's interesting. On the 501 website, they list as one of the optional pieces is the holster, but they do not have a picture or description of the holster.

You can use a holster...but it's not part of the "official" costume. It's not at all required for getting approved. Really the only reason to have one is if you're going to be carrying a blaster and want somewhere to put it to free up your hands.

The holster is the same as the one for the Stormtrooper only in white commonly.

Yes, that's right, I second that. But keep in mind, that if you don't have a blaster with you, you also have to remove the holster.

Walter also mentioned his small funds, so he doesn't need to spent money for that and can save it for other items ;)
