Forgive me, if you already have done so...but can I suggest little brass clips on the backs of your boot straps.

Thanks. This was my fastest build with me completing it within 6 days, just in time for this weekend's Children's Parade in Dayton, OH. I was super motivated to get it complete since it was going to be super cold. The really cool thing was that it started to snow this year for the first time within an hour after I completed the build Due to the time constraints, I rivited the boot straps, but will replace them in the near future with brass clips.
